Meet the Founder
Hi, my name is Min. I’m the Co-Founder at Buzzn. As a licensed pharmacist, I’ve worked in a variety of healthcare settings from small independent pharmacies, large fortune 10 companies and most recently leaving my position at an HIV clinic to launch Buzzn. The one commonality despite the setting differences is how real the opiate crisis is and how we truly are a nation that bandaids problems with pills. Rightfully so, we trust our doctors authority without questioning the long-term risks, safety profile, and ultimately if the benefits outweigh the risks.
Start of my healthcare journey
While I was in high school, my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. I was always fascinated by science, math and the human body, but understanding the mechanism of this disease was beyond me. Despite going through tremendous physical and mental struggles, my mom was able to eradicate cancer from her body completely. She is now in remission. This miracle was made possible by advanced pharmacotherapy, which eventually led me to pursue a career as a pharmacist.
My career as a registered pharmacist began in 2012 upon graduating from Northeastern University with a Doctorate of Pharmacy. Working in various health care settings, the one commonality I witnessed was that the opioid crisis was a real dilemma, and people’s addiction to habit forming medications under a doctor’s authority was also a problem. As a pharmacist, I have only witnessed the consequences of opioid addiction at a local level, so I can only imagine how serious the issue is nationwide. On a more personal level, I’ve also seen my close friends struggle with addiction and even at one point teetering close to that line myself.
Before I became a healthcare professional, I was a patient. During my graduate studies, I turned to my doctor for a solution for what’s diagnosed as generalized anxiety disorder, or GAD, and so quickly he prescribed me something that worked for me almost immediately. Studying Pharmacokinetics at that time, I knew very well my prescription was not a sustainable treatment alternative. I needed a long-term solution.
Discovery of CBD
During my practice, one of my patient’s successfully weaned himself off of opiates for chronic pain by using CBD. He took the initiative to educate himself on CBD and its natural healing benefits to taper off his pain medications. My patient was on extended-release and instant-release opiates for chronic pain. Every two weeks he decreased his treatment by half, while tapering up his CBD dose. He was not entirely opiate free at that time as he was still taking short-acting pain medications for breakthrough pain, but he was altogether off his long-acting opiates. Seeing how wonderful it was to see him take that initiative and restore his well-being, I did some digging myself and decided to give it a try. Fast forward, I found tremendous relief in CBD to help with anxiety. It has helped me in more ways than I intended. I can’t imagine not taking my CBD oil everyday. It gives me baseline relief, and I have peace of mind knowing I take it consistently everyday (thanks placebo).
Launch of Buzzn
Buzzn was created to break the stigma around cannabis and be an educational resource for those looking to shy away from traditional western medicine with more long-term (adjunct) solutions for health and wellness. Our mission is to empower a healthier and happier generation with sustainable solutions. I, along with the people closest to me found clarity with cannabis hemp. It’s surprising to see how a lot of us are okay with taking synthetic drugs, yet we find cannabis for healing not acceptable. I’ve witnessed miracles with life-saving chemotherapy for my mom, but also some horrible consequences of addiction and dependency on control substance prescription drugs. I’m not here to tell you to completely go off of prescriptions because that’s not realistic. I’m here to open up the conversation about cannabis — hope that you see it from a different perspective, let you know it’s okay to question your doctor’s authority on treatment options, and re-conceptualize health and wellness from a sustainability standpoint.
Min graduated from Northeastern University in 2012 with a Doctorate of Pharmacy. He has spent the last seven years as a licensed, active pharmacist working in a variety of healthcare settings from small independent pharmacies, large fortune 10 companies and most recently an HIV clinic. In 2016, Min launched Urban Wag, a dog walking service in Brooklyn, NY. Through Urban Wag, Min worked closely with many rescue dogs, including Korean K9 Rescue group, a non-profit organization that saves dogs from dog meat farms in Korea and helps find them a ‘furever’ home in NYC. While working with dogs who have been through a lot of trauma, he discovered the benefits of using CBD oil in rescue dogs’ diets as a mood stabilizer. This discovery led Min to launch buzzn, a CBD wellness company, in February 2019. buzzn is a line of organic CBD oil supplements for people and pets offering the most absorbable CBD in the industry. buzzn’s pharmaceutical-grade products utilize an intensive CO2 extraction process. buzzn CBD is derived from 100% organic, industrial, Colorado-grown hemp plants focusing on the natural compounds of phytocannabinoid-rich hemp oil to promote healing, while creating an extremely potent yet safe and regulated hemp oil with zero THC to align your body and mind.
